I have found out that The Time of The Doctor will not be shown on BBC Entertainment in Asia. I was wondering if you knew that Christmas falls on the same day for the whole world. Even if it showed at inconvenient times I would watch it, just like I got up at 3am to watch the 50th anniversary. I really want to watch The Time of The Doctor at the same time as others. I subscribed to a whole group of channels just to get BBC Entertainment in time for the 50th Anniversary. I have DVDs of Doctor Who seasons sitting on my coffee table. I would like to have the same treatment as any fan in the UK.

David

Hi, I just saw your reply on the Christmas special to other viewers and am very heartbroken with the replies. Why can't Asia be among those getting the special on the same day it airs in the UK, US, the rest of Europe and even Australia? In fact, there don't seem to be any Doctor Who episodes for the rest of the month. I do not think think that's fair to us whovians who're stuck in Asia. Please reconsider!

BBC

Dear David,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in Asia.

May we take this opportunity to explain that due to rights and availability issues, there will often be a delay between original transmission and when we are able to bring programmes to our international viewers. We do try to minimise the delay whenever possible and as you will be aware BBC Entertainment Asia was included last month in the BBC Worldwide simulcast of the 50th Anniversary special which we hope you enjoyed. Please be assured that we will pass on your interest in watching the Doctor Who 2013 Christmas Special to our programming team.

Thank you for contacting us.

Best wishes,

Hello! You made such a big deal out of the 50th Anniversary special for Doctor Who - yet this equally big event (Christmas Special 2013) which sees the regeneration to the new doctor, has had NO hype and no scheduling!! It is a Christmas special - which is coming up fast - and nothing? Unbelievable. Tell me it isn't so (and the date/time we Whovians can watch).

BBC

Dear Louise,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in Asia.

The Doctor Who Christmas 2013 Special is not scheduled to be shown on BBC Entertainment Asia in the near future and we appreciate this is disappointing news for you and we have noted your interest in watching this episode on the channel.

Hello! I am a fan of Sherlock and I really looking forward to watch the latest Sherlock episode. Will Sherlock Series 3 be shown on BBC Entertainment Asia? There has been airdates for other countries BBC Entertainment channels but not the one for Asia. Please tell me whether it will be shown on the channel or the airdates for the programme. Thank You.

Huge fan of the channel - catch the classics and the latest shows very regularly... Wondering if you have a decision on when we will be able to see Season 3 of Sherlock here in Singapore? Thanks much.

Why do we get a constant cycle of repeats? Some after just a short time after a previous showing. Even ongoing shows like The Weakest Link are constantly repeated. It gets to be a very boring schedule. Why???

BBC

Dear Brian,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in Asia.

The schedules for our channels are compiled by an experienced group of programme schedulers who fill each day with the best programmes they believe our audiences will enjoy. In common with most cable and satellite channels, repeats are a feature of most schedules. This is appreciated by those viewers who don't watch the same channel every day and, due to the multi-channel environment, often miss complete series. Viewing habits and differences in working hours mean that we repeat our shows in order to allow viewers the opportunity to catch their favourites at times that are convenient to them.

We very much appreciate hearing from our viewers and we thank you for sending us your feedback that you feel programmes are repeated too frequently which we will pass on to our scheduling team.

Why aren't you showing Strictly Come Dancing in Asia? It's probably the most popular entertainment programme produced by the BBC, but it is not available on BBC Entertainment!

BBC

Dear Bruce,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in Asia.

We very much welcome suggestions from our viewers of programmes they would like to see on our channels and we will bring your request for Strictly Come Dancing to the attention of our programming team. Whilst writing may we take this opportunity to mention that BBC Entertainment is part of BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC. As a commercial entity, BBC Worldwide Channels does not automatically gain the rights to BBC programmes such as Strictly Come Dancing, rather we must bid for them with other broadcasters.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to contact us and for your interest in BBC Entertainment.

TH

Dear BBC Entertainment, Could I know when the Doctor Who Christmas Special 2013 (The Time of the Doctor) will be shown in Singapore? And could I also know the air dates for Sherlock Series 3? Thank you very much for the help.

BBC

Dear TH,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in Asia.

The Doctor Who 2013 Christmas special is due to be shown on BBC Entertainment Asia this year but at the present time we do not have a confirmed schedule date. Why is Doctor Who: The Christmas Invasion not on BBC Asia! What is preventing you. Lack of interest? I see several letters from fans. My household has 5 dedicated fans. As I said before.. Growing up I begged my dad to contribute to AMERICAN PBS specifically for getting doctor who on the television. Here in Asian, I had to sign up for 4 BBC Channels just to get Doctor WHO. Not Confidential . Not Explained. I already know since I'm a fan for over thirty years. with 4 young children right behind me. Please. If you don't put current and specials and regular doctor who programs on the schedule, I will have to pull the plug on our cable and resort to other ways to watch the show.

BBC

Dear Aaron,

Thank you for your further messages to BBC Worldwide Channels in Asia.

Due to rights and availability issues, there will usually be a delay between original transmission and when we are able to bring programmes to our international viewers, but we try to minimise this wherever possible. Doctor Who: The Time of the Doctor Christmas Special 2013 is not due to be shown on BBC Entertainment in the near future but we have certainly noted fans’ interest in seeing this Christmas special.

As noted in our reply to you of 11th December, the most recently produced series of Doctor Who, series 7, premiered on BBC Entertainment in November and in the run up to the BBC Worldwide simulcast, Doctor Who fans were given the opportunity to enjoy not only series 7, but also another opportunity to watch Doctor Who series 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. We do hope you enjoyed watching these six series of Doctor Who and of course the 50th Anniversary episode.

Thank you for your feedback.

Best wishes,
