Would BBC Entertainment actually consider offering an on-demand service so that subscribers who have missed parts of aired programmes may catch up at their own pace within a certain period after the airing of the complete series? This will hopefully reduce the need for re-runs throughout the year and free up air time for programmes fresh from the UK.

BBC

Dear Winnie,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide channels in Asia and for your suggestion regarding a future on-demand service. At the moment we don't have any immediate plans for such a service in Asia but we are always pleased to receive feedback and suggestions from our viewers.

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to send us your feedback which we very much appreciate.

I am a subscriber of Starhub Cable TV in Singapore and loved to watch the Nature documentaries in BBC Knowledge. In my opinion, BBC produced some of the best classic Nature documentaries, especially “Wildlife on One” and “The Natural World”. And I have loved watching them a few years back when they were shown regularly on Animal Planet. Unfortunately, these classics programmes are not available nowadays. Have you considered showing these programmes on BBC Knowledge?

BBC

Dear Jerry,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in Asia.

We are delighted to read how much you enjoy nature documentaries on BBC Knowledge and we will note your request to watch The Natural World and Wildlife on One on the channel in the future. While writing, may we take this opportunity to mention some of the fantastic programmes on BBC Knowledge this month which we hope you will find of interest:

African Journey with Jonathan Dimbleby, Amazon, Big Cat Diary, Chimpanzee Diary, Deadly 60, Everest: Beyond the Limit, Human Planet, Indian Ocean with Simon Reeve, Nature’s Great Events, Oceans.

Thank you for contacting us with your feedback and we do hope you will enjoy some of these great programmes.

Im a Top Gear fan, the episode botswana special aired on the 31/01/13 at 1.35am was so heavily edited (background music replaced) and had massive chunks cut out of it. That was a fail. The censored parts were not sensitive in any way but was simply cut so it could fit into the 1 hour tv slot. We arent dumb. I will be unsubscribing from bbc channels tomorrow since its proven to me that i dont get complete content from your channels.

BBC

Dear A,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide channels in Asia about Top Gear: Botswana Special.

While we note you have not requested a response, we thought it would be useful if we explained why this programme was edited. We received this particular programme pre-edited for duration purposes for broadcast on our international channels, for example the news section was omitted as this section would not be news when this programme is broadcast on our international channels. In addition, some of the original music was replaced for licensing reasons.

We very much hope you have continued with your subscription to BBC Worldwide channels in Asia and if you are still watching our programmes, we do hope you are enjoying the brand new Top Gear series 19 which is currently premiering on BBC Knowledge only a very short time after its UK premiere. We are also delighted to say that we are now able to bring to fans of Top Gear full length episodes of series 19.

Thank you for sending us your feedback.

Hi, I have subscribed to BBC Entertainment in Hong Kong for 3 years now and continue to be extremely disappointed to see continual repeats of outdated programmes. For example, how can you publicise a "new" series of The Apprentice. I saw this whilst I was living in Britain in 2009!!

BBC

Dear John,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in Asia.

We are sorry to read that you are unhappy with the amount of repeats which you feel are broadcast on BBC Entertainment. As with all cable and satellite channels, repeats are a feature of most schedules and this is appreciated by those viewers who don't watch the same channel every day and, due to the multi-channel environment, often miss complete series.

You also mention in your message the age of some of the programmes we broadcast and may we take this opportunity to explain that due to rights and availability issues, there will always be a delay between original transmission in the UK and when we are able to bring programmes to our international viewers, however we do try to minimise this wherever possible. Regarding The Apprentice, the series currently on BBC Entertainment has been shown previously on BBC Knowledge in Asia, however it is new to BBC Entertainment. The Apprentice proved extremely popular with BBC Knowledge viewers and as not all BBC Entertainment subscribers in Asia also have BBC Knowledge, we decided to air it on BBC Entertainment and therefore it is new to this channel.

We hope you will enjoy the programmes premiering in February and details of these can be found on the website

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to contact us.

Hi Team, I saw the episode of Last Woman Standing today on 24-Jan-2013 @ 00:00 hrs Singapore time.
It was disgraceful to see that the show was portraying tribal woman in topless manner exposing all parts of body which should have ideally been blurred or striped(unable to view) or hidden. Please note that this channel is considered to be educative and even kids watch on regular basis. I'd appreciate if you could please blur the objective scenes and edit it well before broadcasting. Giving a PG/13+ warning at beginning of show is not advisable, in fact, you may wish to display a logo of PG/13+/18+ throughout the broadcast of such or similar episodes. I hope to see a positive response from your end. Regards, Soman.

BBC

Dear Soman,

Thank you for your message regarding Last Woman Standing: Kamaiura Wrestling on BBC Knowledge Asia.

We are very sorry to read of your concerns regarding this programme and in light of your thoughtful feedback we have reviewed this episode. You have raised a useful point and to ensure that viewers are fully aware of the content of this programme in any future broadcasts, we will ensure that there is a warning regarding tribal nudity. In accordance with Singaporean broadcasting codes we are allowed to include tribal nudity, however as a result of your feedback we will give consideration to a higher age rating and not to transmit this level of tribal nudity before 10pm.

Thank you for your feedback which is very valuable to us and we will therefore ensure that it is circulated to our senior management here at BBC Worldwide channels.

BBC

How can the BBC justify showing "The Apprentice" (Season 4) on BBC Entertainment after repeating the same season to death BBC Knowledge last year?

BBC

Dear Colin,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in Asia.

The Apprentice proved extremely popular with BBC Knowledge viewers and as not all BBC Entertainment subscribers in Asia also have BBC Knowledge, we decided to air it on BBC Entertainment. However we appreciate that you may have seen this series previously and we do hope you will enjoy some of the other fantastic programmes on our channels in Asia this month. For example, on BBC Entertainment we have the premieres of Hustle series 8, The Graham Norton Show series 12 and Upstairs Downstairs.

On BBC Knowledge we have the brand new series of Top Gear which is being shown shortly after its UK premiere, and other premiere programmes on this channel in February include Robson Green’s Extreme Fishing Challenge series 2, South American Journey with Jonathan Dimbleby and Rhod Gilbert’s Work Experience series 3.

Thank you for contacting us with your feedback regarding the scheduling of The Apprentice on BBC Entertainment.

Sherlock is really one of a kind. I am from London but am currently in Asia for work for a while so I really want to see the shows that are airing back at home.People are right that there is too much of repeat material rather than something new. And also wanted to ask when is Season 3 going to start from?

BBC

Dear Elizabeth,

Thank you for your message to BBC Worldwide Channels in Asia. We are delighted to hear you enjoyed Sherlock so much. Unfortunately the eagerly awaited series 3 has not premiered in the UK as of yet, so we can't confirm whether the series will feature on BBC Entertainment in Asia, but we appreciate your interest in seeing the programme. We are sorry you are not satisfied with our repeat patterns. As we are sure you can appreciate, given differing schedules and viewing preferences we do repeat programmes to ensure our viewers always have a chance to catch their favourites. Nevertheless, we are committed to doing everything possible to introduce a higher number of new titles to our channels and are pleased to hear comments from our viewers on how the current programming is being received. We hope you'll enjoy this month's premieres: a new production of Upstairs Downstairs, on BBC Entertainment from 10th February, and series 8 of Hustle, on BBC Entertainment from 13th February.

Best wishes,

BBC Entertainment
